St. John’s International Airport is preparing for some substantial growth over the next decade.
During their annual public meeting yesterday CEO Dennis Hogan revealed that over 1.4-million passengers filed through YYT in 2025.
Hogan says based on a “relatively conservative” growth rate of between 2.5 and 3 per cent, forecasts indicate that the airport could exceed 2-million passengers annually in the next 10 years.
Hogan says planning for that growth includes some significant expansions for the airport.
He says the east side of the terminal was expanded in 2018, and future plans include work on the west side.
Hogan says the original terminal building was built to accommodate 900,000 passengers, which they have “long exceeded.” The east expansion can handle up to 2.3-million, but he says the arrivals area is still designed for 900,000. Hogan states they have been “getting by,” but for the long-term they need to consider expanding those areas.
The Airport has also unveiled a new logo and branding in partnership with JAC marketing.
