The City of St. John’s has begun to distribute property assessments for 2027.

The base date for 2027 is January 1, 2024; therefore, the assessment that owners will see provides a market value for the property as of January 1, 2024.

Prices have gone up significantly in metro since that date.

There is a formal appeal process for those who disagree with the assessed value of their property. The deadline to file an appeal for the 2027 assessment notice is August 10, 2026. Forms received after that deadline will not be accepted.

Anyone who does plan to appeal has to fill out the accompanying assessment form, and return it to City Hall in person.
