A 38-year-old woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle collision that closed the TCH in central last night.

Lewisporte RCMP say the collision occurred about 1 km east of Norris Arm North, after a vehicle crossed over the centre line and into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer.

The injured driver, who police say showed signs of impairment, was arrested and taken to hospital where blood samples were collected.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Police are awaiting the lab results to determine whether charges will be laid.
