Premier Tony Wakeham has appointed a committee to oversee the Churchill Falls negotiating team as talks resume.
The role of the committee is not to direct the negotiating team, but rather to receive regular briefings on progress to make sure the conduct of the negotiations is “reasonable” and in compliance with their negotiating strategy.
The committee will be chaired by Dan Levert, a construction lawyer and consultant. The other members are Julia Mullaley, who spent her career in the public service which included a stint at Newfoundland and Labrador Housing, and Mike Jardine, who has been in roles with Fortis, the parent company of Newfoundland Power.
