Premier Tony Wakeham is slamming the opposition Liberals after they criticized the appointment of three people to the Churchill Falls Negotiation Review Panel.
Energy Critic Fred Hutton questioned the trio’s role in the process, saying Julia Mullaley, Dan Levert and Mike Jardine all lack the required expertise in the energy market and energy regulations.
Leader John Hogan cited concerns about some members’ involvement in the Muskrat Falls deal over a decade ago.
Wakeham says the Liberals are too focused on attacking people rather than the issue itself, and that their collective expertise covers the “full range of skills required” to do their work.
He says the trio should be able to “provide their professional advice and judgment without being subjected to political attacks,” because it may be “inconvenient” to the opposition.
Negotiations on the MOU are expected to begin in the near future.
