The back-and-forth between the Liberals and the PCs over the hydro MOU continues, with the opposition claiming that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are learning significant public information from sources other than the Premier and his government.
Leader John Hogan referred to The Tim Powers Show on VOCM Tuesday and an interview with a journalist from La Presse who indicated that he expected to see a new MOU on hydro development in Labrador reached in July.
Quebec Premier Christine Frechette is said to be eager to reach a deal.
Hogan says the people continue to be denied the transparency that government promised in its Blue Book.
Hogan accuses Premier Wakeham of secretly hiring Danny Williams-era cabinet minister Jerome Kennedy months before making it public. It was Williams who campaigned to stop the previous MOU dead in its tracks.
He says, at every turn with this government, accountability is being replaced by secrecy and that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians should not be finding out through Quebec media that a new MOU is expected next month.
