An annual fundraiser that supports children battling cancer is happening this afternoon in Paradise.
Twelve years ago Neveah Denine, who was battling neuroblastoma, had an idea to hold a lemonade stand to raise money for other sick children.
People turned out in droves to support her, and now it has grown into a yearly event that raises money to support children and their families.
Nevaeh passed away in 2018 at the age of nine.
Organizer Stephanie O’Brien speaks to just how much money she believes has been raised in total over the last number of years.
Though she doesn’t have specifics, she believes around three-quarters of a million dollars has been raised. “So we’ve done some really incredible things, and its all because of Nevaeh.” O’Brien says she can feel her at the event every year.
The 12th annual Nevaeh’s Lemonade Stand is taking place today from noon until 4 p.m. at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.
