The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says drones have become “quite useful” for them during their investigations.
The use of a drone over the weekend is what lead to the arrest of 52-year-old Jason Courtney, who is accused of intentionally setting a fire in Cochrane Pond Park over the weekend.
Constable Steph Myers, who calls the drone a “relatively new” resource for police, says there are a number of officers that have been trained in how to use them.
She says they were used because of the difficult terrain in the area.
