The provincial fire ban could be lifted today.

The ban was implemented last week due to a high forest fire index and extensive fire activity in Labrador.

While there are still 20 fires burning throughout the province, the ones closest to communities are listed as either being held or under control.

All of the out-of-control fires are burning in remote areas of Labrador and do not pose an immediate threat to communities.
