The provincial government wants more information on the environmental effects of a large-scale energy project in central Newfoundland before giving its approval.
The Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corporation (EVREC) says its project will produce about 180,000 tonnes of green energy and a million tonnes of green ammonia annually.
The wind project would consist of 534 turbines spread among four areas.
The company is talking about a total expenditure of $14-billion over the life of the project, and the need for an average of 3,000 workers per year.
The final product would be shipped to Europe via the port of Botwood.
