With the House of Assembly set to reopen September 14th for debate on the new Churchill Falls agreement, the Opposition is calling on government to ensure that the same level of scrutiny, access and transparency be provided as was available in January of 2025.
Liberal Leader John Hogan says every participant who appeared before the House during the 2025 debate should be made available this time around.
He says at that time, MHAs were able to hear directly from, and question experts and others to gain a better understanding of the agreement and its implications.
That included the premier, ministers involved, negotiating team, hydro executives and independent experts.
He says there is “no justification” for lowering that standard now.
