An arrest in Sheshatshiu that was caught on camera and shared widely online has been referred to the Serious Incident Response Team for review.

The video shows three officers taking a man into custody in what appears to be a rough and aggressive manner.

RCMP are not able to provide further information on the incident while that process is underway.

However, Labrador District RCMP have been in touch with Innu Nation Grand Chief Jodie Ashini and Sheshatshiu Band Council Chief Eugene Hart to review the incident and hear their concerns.

RCMP say they will continue to engage directly with the community in those conversations.
