Two women were arrested in what RCMP in Happy Valley-Goose Bay say was a targeted robbery and attack in the community early Wednesday morning.

RCMP were contacted about an assault in a vacant lot in the area of Broomfield Street just before 1:00 Wednesday.

The victim required first aid at the scene and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Two suspects who fled the scene before police arrived were identified and 1arrested.

Twenty-eight-year-old Natasha Mistenapeo (MISTA-napeeyo) was charged with robbery, assault with a weapon and other offences. A 47-year-old woman was also arrested and faces a single count of assault.

RCMP say there is no risk to the public.
