Both RNC and RCMP are urging people to call them directly if they are aware of criminal activity.

In recent years the tendency to post images and video to social media has taken off, yet in some cases, a formal complaint is never received by police.

Law enforcement can’t investigate what they have not been notified about and posting to social media does not automatically prompt an investigation.

RNC Constable Steph Myers says if you witness or are aware of criminal activity, report it directly to police – the sooner, the better.

“We cannot help people if we don’t know what’s going on in communities.”
