The department of justice says it is committed to maintaining appropriate access to court services on the southwest coast after planned renovations to a building in Stephenville Crossing were nixed.
The old Martin Gallant Building in the community was being renovated by the former Liberal government to transform it into a courthouse and government services building.
The current government put the kibosh on those plans, with the structure now slated for demolition.
The province says it will continue to monitor court operations, utilization levels, service demands, and facility requirements.
