Municipalities are pleased that the provincial government is holding the line on municipal funding in the budget delivered this week.

MNL President Sheila Fitzgerald says that’s the best they could expect at this time.

She says municipal operating grants remain at $22-million while the provincial gas tax revenue sharing will remain at $7-million.

Fitzgerald says the minister’s references to “reimagining government” were also well received.

She looks forward to discussing the issue with the new minister as municipalities have tried to be as creative as possible to make the most of limited resources.
