A two-year radiothon fundraiser is being lauded as a success after raising a grand total of over $1-million for the Western Regional Hospital Foundation.
VOCM Cares kicked off the radiothon’s second year in Corner Brook with a donation of $1,000. The event was hosted by VOCM’s Lenny Benoit and long-time co-host Dr. Tony Tavenor.

Community groups, businesses, and individuals came forward to contribute to the cause raising over $317,000. That was matched by a $200,000 contribution from the provincial government, bringing the total above $517,000 for this year’s event.
The radiothon, which was carried on 570 VOCM, was the second part of a two-year campaign to raise $1-million in support of breast cancer care, and the purchase of essential health care equipment.
