Bay St. George RCMP say they have arrested a suspect that was believed to be armed and dangerous in the community of St. George’s.
They say the risk to public safety is ended and residents are no longer required to stay inside.
Police say Todd Barry, 34, was taken into custody just before 7 p.m. Sunday.
Barry is no stranger to police, given several run-ins including last year when he fled in a car after being pulled over. He was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, dangerous operation of a vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and failure to comply with a probation order.
Barry was also the victim of an assault at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary in 2015 when another inmate attacked him with a broken broomstick.
