A tractor-trailer on Pitts Memorial slowed traffic during the morning rush hour.
A fire broke out in the engine of the vehicle in the eastbound lane.
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded just before 9:00, bringing the situation under control within minutes.
There were no injuries.
