A 34-year-old man is facing numerous criminal charges following an alarming incident in St. Georges yesterday evening.
Todd Barry is accused of firing a shot at a house, pointing a firearm at residents in the town, and fleeing from police while impaired.
The first incident happened shortly before 6:00. Police were contacted by someone who claimed that Barry fired a shot at their house. The shot entered the home, but no one was injured. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
RCMP issued a public alert urging people to stay inside their homes after receiving further reports that the suspect had pointed a firearm at a number of other people in the community.

About 40 minutes later, officers found Barry driving an ATV with a passenger along the main road in the town. Officers attempted to pull him over, but Barry attempted to flee and crashed into a ditch. He was found to be impaired and was held in custody after being treated for injuries.
Barry was handed a hefty list of 33 criminal charges for the series of events, including:
- Discharging a firearm at a residence;
- Careless use of a firearm (multiple counts);
- Pointing a firearm (multiple counts);
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited (multiple counts);
- Flight from police;
- Impaired driving;
- Prohibited driving;
- Dangerous driving;
- Assault on police;
- Uttering threats
The firearm used in the incident was recovered by officers today. The investigation continues.
