Two free public wifi areas have been established in Victoria Park and Bannerman Park to help protect and assist those in need as a result of the pandemic.
Signs in the parks mark the best areas to access the wifi, located in close proximity to non-market housing locations and street outreach services. The zones are both located on bus routes and are walkable from shelters, transitional housing, housing developments, and outreach service locations.
Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary, council’s lead on housing, says there has never been a more important time to have these wifi zones up and running.
The Canadian Medical Association Foundation helped make it possible with a donation.
