If the Opposition Tories have their way, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians won’t go to the polls in a general election until this time next year.
That was the surprise proposal put forth by the PCs in the House of Assembly yesterday.
Tory House Leader David Brazil says it’s all about keeping people safe and healthy, adding the recent COVID-19 case on the west coast put the risk into perspective.
He says the fact that a positive case was identified in the area during the byelection campaign in Humber-Gros Morne was a wakeup call that the virus could exist anywhere without warning.
Brazil says there’s no reason to expose people to such risk when it’s not necessary.
