There is some soggy weather on the way for a good chunk of the island and into parts of Labrador.
Special weather statements are out for the south and southwest coasts with over 50 mm of rain expected in the Port aux Basques area. The system is moving across the gulf and will eventually reach the Strait of Bell Isle.
Derm Kearney a meteorologist with the Environment Canada, says winds will be in the 70-90 km/h range for much of the island, including the Avalon.
He says they may end up extending the special weather statement to the Avalon Peninsula later today.
