Schools can begin phasing in some indoor extra-curricular activities today.
The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District will introduce volleyball and music to begin the return of indoor activities as of today.
These activities will be closely monitored as the NLESD aims to gradually introduce other extra-curricular activities in the coming weeks and months.
Tony Stack, CEO/Director of Education (Interim), says extra-curricular activities have a profound impact on a student’s physical, mental and social well-being.
He says their first priority is the health and safety of students and staff and the delivery of the prescribed K-12 curriculum; there will be no spectators permitted for practices, games, rehearsals or performances.
Many outdoor extra-curricular activities have already been occurring throughout September.
