A Harbour Grace woman has been sentenced to 33 months in custody after pleading guilty to a long list of fraud charges against her.
Brittany Osborne, also known as Brittany Mahaney, was charged in connection with a pet scam in which she was accepting money from people hoping to buy a puppy.
The trouble was, there were no puppies to be had, and in some cases Osborne used the identity of known breeders to defraud her victims.
In two cases, Osborne used identification, including a passport photograph and a Canadian Kennel Club Certificate, belonging to another person to identify herself to the victims as being a legitimate dog breeder.
Osborne pleaded guilty to the charges against her in Harbour Grace provincial court yesterday. She is being credited for time served.
