Condolences are pouring in for a man who was known for his warmth and generous personality. Douglas Penny Jr. passed away suddenly on November 1 at home at the age of 61.
Chris Forward, General Manager at Harveys Home Heating, says Doug was a fixture with them for over 42 years. He says Doug was known for putting his customers first. On his route, he’d help shovel out elderly people’s vehicles or steps during the winter.
Forward says Penny was a beautiful soul. He would carry around cases of Pepsi in his truck to hand out to underserved populations or people he saw on the street or would give half of his sandwich.
Doug had his truck wrapped for the Pride Parade and after the parade, he insisted that the rainbow wrap stay on his truck permanently, which Forward says it will.
A wake will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home today (Wednesday) from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Due to COVID restrictions, the funeral service will be by invitation, as well as live-streamed on the chapel streaming service.
