A 33-year-old man has been charged after an incident in the east end of St. John’s which unfolded over the course of a couple of hours.
The RNC took a call around suppertime that a man had left the area in a vehicle, was driving in a dangerous manner, and was involved in a hit-and-run collision.
Officers tried to locate and stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful. They put out a public advisory that they were on the lookout for the vehicle believed to have been involved.

Meanwhile, metro police had to use a spike belt to stop a driver on Pitts Memorial westbound near the Commonwealth off-ramp late yesterday morning. Not even that was enough as the 36-year-old then tried to get away on foot. RNC arrested him after a short chase.
Police first spotted the driver, who they knew to be suspended from driving, at about 11:15 a.m. on Columbus Drive but he took off.
He has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, flight from police and resisting arrest. He was handed numerous tickets under the Highway Traffic Act.
