Energy Minister Andrew Parsons is choosing his words carefully following news of an offer to purchase the Come By Chance oil refinery.

Origin International confirmed yesterday it has made an offer to buy the facility, as well as North Atlantic Refining’s retail outlets, from current owner Silverpeak.

Parsons said the proposed purchase is in the very early stages, with much work left to do before any deal is finalized.

The minister said he won’t relax until a purchase is completed, whether that involves Origin International or another potential buyer.

Parsons noted there are other parties interested in the refinery, but he would not reveal exactly how many or who they are.
