It was a hard-fought battle, but former Supreme Court Justice Seamus O’Regan Sr. has passed away.
His son and namesake, MP Seamus O’Regan tweeted the news this morning.
The younger O’Regan took some time off the federal campaign trail last year to be by his father’s bedside, but the elder O’Regan rallied telling his son to get back to his campaign.
Minister O’Regan says his father was his hero, calling him a “giant.”
Justice O’Regan was appointed to the bench as a judge January 3, 1984 and retired January 1, 2017. He served for years in Happy Valley-Goose Bay where the younger O’Regan grew up.
There’s so much to celebrate, and so many good stories to tell. And we won’t be deprived of any of that.
We’ll have a proper celebration of his life when COVID restrictions allow for it.
To the nurses, doctors and staff at St Clare’s Hospital, thank you for your kindness. pic.twitter.com/gsEHQ03QJy
