Over 1,000 rebate cheques have been processed to date, as the provincial government works its way through thousands of applications under its popular residential construction program.

Finance Minister Siobhan Coady remarks that the program proved to be very popular, having received more applications than expected by the program’s deadline.

A 25 per cent rebate was made available for eligible renovation projects up to a maximum rebate of $10,000.

Out of the 12,000 applications received, about 9,000 have been pre-approved to receive the benefit.

For those still awaiting their rebate, Minister Siobhan Coady assures that government is working to process the remaining returns.
