The provincial government is going to provide matching funds of up to $50,000 for Daffodil Place, a facility important to cancer patients from out of town who are in St. John’s for treatment.
NAPE, the largest union in the province, is kicking in $15,000.
The “One Night Stand” Radiothon taking place over 24 hours beginning yesterday morning on VOCM and concluded at 8 a.m.
The facility depends on fundraising to cover the annual operating costs. Those who stay there pay a nominal fee.
NAPE President Jerry Earle says many of their members have used Daffodil Place. He says it’s a cause that their union has supported over the years as Daffodil Place receives no regular government funding.
