A Newfoundlander has been appointed to oversee the distribution of COVID vaccines in Canada’s most populous province.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced that Retired General Rick Hillier will oversee the distribution of vaccine in that province.

Hillier, a native of Campbellton, served as Chief of Defence Staff under Prime Minister Paul Martin and is a recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The province of Ontario likened it to a military operation in that it will present one of the biggest logistical challenges seen in a generation.
