Snowfall rates have begun to ease in central Labrador but they still have 65 cm of fresh snow on the ground.
Most of that fell last night and overnight.
The trouble now will be high winds from the north northwest this afternoon. The snow is light and fluffy so visibility will become a big issue.
Mayor Wally Anderson says they have the equipment and personnel to clear the roads in a timely fashion.
If anyone needs assistance to get to an appointment, they can contact the town hall at the number on the website.
Earlier Story
Central Labrador is bearing an all-out attack from Mother Nature. Over 60 cm of snow is already on the ground in Happy Valley-Goose Bay with more to come.
Environment Canada also has blizzard warnings out for the area from Hopedale to Postville-Makkovik.
The winds will howl from the north northwest this afternoon and tonight with gusts around 90 km/h.
David Neal, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says skies are clearing in Western Labrador but the storm is still raging in other parts of Labrador.
He says another 15-25 cm could fall in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay area before all is said and done.
There goes my driveway….40 cms overnight and it appears as if most of it fell right into my driveway, 40 cms more to follow today. ❄️❄️❤️❄️❄️ #nlwx @rcbstormpost @cstclair1 pic.twitter.com/EG60ZnWpaq
