A local sports program aimed at athletes with disabilities will be able to go forward thanks to a big infusion of cash from the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund.
Like many other sports organizations, Squash NL had to cancel its programs earlier this year due to COVID-19.
The president of Squash NL, Jeff Tulk, says that included their inclusivity program that offers instruction to players with autism and intellectual disabilities.
Tulk says the $12,000 infusion has helped them to resume all their programming with the appropriate measures to keep players safe.
Because of COVID protocols, they weren’t sure if the inclusivity program would be able to go ahead, but the money will help with extra coaching time and necessary cleaning.
As a result, Tulk says that the program is now back up and running.
