In the face of some of the most trying economic times this province has ever seen, the town of CBS has tabled a good news budget.
The $37.2-million budget includes a freeze on residential and business tax rates, meaning the residential rate will be maintained at 7.15 mils, as will the commercial rate at 11.5 mils.
In the upcoming fiscal year, the town will be making some significant investments on upgrades to roads and sidewalks—most of which will be Minerals Road, which will see $2.5-million in upgrades. Anchorage Road will receive upgrades as well, to the tune of $1-million.

The town will be providing $4-million for the construction of an 8,000 square foot library. They are aiming for construction to begin in the spring, concluding some time in 2022.
$2.5-million has been allocated for the completion of the town’s inclusive and accessible community park. That project began earlier this year, and the next phase of work will include a dual water park and ice skating surface, new change rooms and washrooms, lighting, and a stage.
The town has also eliminated fees for new home construction permits, and permits to repair and improve residents’ homes, including extensions, decks, sheds, fences and other general repairs.
