In light of a recent cluster of COVID-19 cases in the province, health officials are urging more people to download the COVID alert app. There are five confirmed cases in the Eastern Health Region related to the cluster, and 160 people are in isolation.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, says public health is currently tracking down all close contacts identified within the cluster, noting that if more people had the COVID alert app, it would make the load much lighter.
She explains that contact tracing can quickly overwhelm public health when there are high numbers of contacts, and encourages everyone to download the app.
