The Chief Medical Officer of Health says contacts related to the recent COVID outbreak are starting to be seen outside the metro area.
Fifty new confirmed cases of the virus are being reported today, 47 in Eastern Health, and three in Central Health. That brings to 260 the number of active cases in the province.
Today’s numbers are half that reported yesterday, but that isn’t reason to believe the surge is over. Public health officials say ebbs and flows are expected as testing and contact tracing continues.
Dr. Haggie warns against reading into today's drop in numbers. He says they can be misleading @VOCMNEWS

Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says people across the province who experience symptoms must get tested.
No matter where you live, you need to get tested, says Fitzgerald, even if you only have one symptom of COVID-19.
Dr. Fitzgerald clarifies orders for those in grades 7-12: it applies from tip of northeast Avalon down to witless bay, does not apply to spectators at sport events. For gatherings, this applies to informal gatherings where official measures were not in place. @VOCMNEWS
