Residents of the province who are 70 years of age or older can now pre-register for their COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
As of Saturday afternoon, 24,246 people completed the process.
Those with access to the internet are encouraged to fill out the form online and help others who may need assistance.
There is a telephone option for those who cannot pre-register online that is active from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. The numbers to call are 1-833-668-3930 or 709-273-3930.
Other priority groups in Phase Two of the vaccination rollout will not need to pre-register until mid to late March.
The Department of Health and Community Services is reminding the public that appointments are not first come first serve. The purpose of pre-registering is to let people identify how they wish to be contacted by their regional health authority when an appointment is available.
Those eligible to register are being asked to wait and pre-register based on their last name:
- Friday, February 26 to Sunday, February 28, people 70 years of age and older with last names starting with A to F;
- Monday, March 1 to Wednesday, March 3, people 70 years of age and older with last names starting with G to L;
- Thursday, March 4 to Saturday, March 6, people 70 years of age and older with last names starting with M to Z.
Beginning on Sunday, March 7, people 70 years of age and older who were unable to pre-register during the above dates can do so.
