Western Health says community COVID testing appointments in both Corner Brook and Meadows are fully booked.
The broader testing measures are in place to provide public health officials with what they’re calling “a snapshot” of possible COVID transmission in the community.
This follows a public advisory asking area residents to get tested following five new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Western Health region on the weekend.
Four new cases were reported on Saturday, all close contacts of a previous case, and a fifth case was reported on Sunday. The fifth case was not related to the other four cases and is a close contact of another previous case.
Western Health officials are assessing the current situation and will expand community testing if necessary.
Anyone who is deemed to be a close contact of a positive case will be contacted by Public Health to arrange for testing.
