Springdale RCMP have laid charges against a 35-year-old man after he was found to be driving while impaired with two children in his vehicle.

A vehicle was driving erratically on the TCH near Baie Verte Junction last evening, prompting calls to police. Officers stopped him near Sheppardville.

He was taken to the local detachment where a breath test showed that he was two and a half times the legal limit. Officials from the Department of Children, Seniors, and Social Development were called in to assess the situation.

Police suspended the man’s licence and seized his vehicle. He will appear in court later to answer to drunk driving charges.
