One thing you’ll hear consistently from residents and tourists alike is the lack of signage on our highways and byways.
Almost a dozen municipalities on the Northeast Avalon are putting their heads together to come up with a plan to improve signage.
Conception Bay South, Mount Pearl, Paradise, Torbay, Wabana, Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove, Pouch Cove, Witless Bay, Holyrood, Bay Bulls and Bauline wish to enhance the connectivity of their existing tourism assets, and enhance the visitor experience.
Tract Consulting has been retained to work with the municipalities to develop a plan to help residents and visitors navigate the communities safely and with confidence.
CBS Deputy Mayor Richard Murphy says each participating municipality will receive a customized, multi-year signage implementation strategy based on their individual needs and resources.
Surveys will be available online in the coming days with a deadline of September 6 for public input.
