The mayor of St. John’s says the city is looking forward to an economic boost associated with its newest basketball franchise.
The Newfoundland Rogues were unveiled yesterday as Mile One Centre’s newest tenants. The American Basketball Association team will be playing 30 games in the city this year. Mayor Danny Breen says having 30 guaranteed event nights in the city is huge.
He says the team will bring more people downtown and increase economic activity, as Mile One is designed to do. He says they are pleased with the local ownership and know the Rogues will be a hit with fans.
