A Labrador woman charged with second-degree murder in the recent stabbing death of a man in downtown St. John’s has had her case postponed for another two weeks.
28-year-old Lorraine Obed, who lived for a time in Happy Valley-Goose Bay was arrested and charged shortly after 49-year-old James Corcoran was pronounced dead on August 27.
Corcoran was found lying on the street in the area of Carter’s Hill around 6:30 p.m. that evening.
At the time, Obed was wanted on a warrant for an alleged assault against the same man three months earlier, having been in a relationship for some time, as well as breaching conditions of a previous release order.
Obed made a brief appearance this morning by videoconference from the women’s correctional centre in Clarenville.
Her lawyer, Derek Hogan, asked for the matter to be postponed until October 20 pending further disclosure from the Crown.
Police have also appealed to the public for any dash cam or home surveillance video that can piece together exactly what happened on the street the night.
