A woman who spent 18 days on a ventilator due to COVID-19 says she’s now fully vaccinated and she’ll get the third shot if necessary to avoid getting that sick again.
Marion Traverse of Paradise describes herself as an otherwise healthy 51-year-old when she was infected by COVID during the Mount Pearl outbreak in February.
Traverse told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly she had to be put on a ventilator, most of which she can’t even remember.
However, she can remember how happy her husband was coming in to see her after finally coming off the ventilator after 18 days. She describes herself as still being in a daze for several days after coming off the ventilator after which she had to learn how to eat and talk all over again.
Traverse says she’s still feeling the impact of the illness and expressed frustration with those who are simply refusing to get vaccinated.
She was off work for seven months and is now on ease-back. Even after all that time, she still has no stamina and needs to lie down after a day’s work.
