The RNC recently arrested two ATV operators in the metro area and seized their machines after they were observed driving on Thorburn Road in St. John’s.
Officers with RNC Traffic Services noticed the two ATVs on the busy road Wednesday afternoon. The machines, which were driven by people who were not wearing helmets, pulled onto Wigmore Court where they came to a stop.
Police then learned that the same vehicles had fled following an attempt to conduct a traffic safety stop a short time earlier on Hallett Crescent.
Two St. John’s men, an 18-year-old and a 21-year-old were each charged with flight from police. They were also ticketed for operating without a license, registration or insurance as well as other Highway Traffic Act offences.
The ATVs were seized and impounded. The pair is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
