The cleanup from hurricane Larry is on the agenda for tonight’s St. John’s City Council meeting.
Following the powerful storm, the city set up two locations for residents to drop off debris—such as limbs and leaves. Now, the city is looking to bring in an outside vendor to provide the labour and equipment necessary to process the tree debris at Robin Hood Bay. One company, Infinity Construction, submitted a bid of $192,000 for 80 hours of work.
Also on the agenda is the proposed Municipal Diversion Initiative, which would give people charged with a municipal offence an alternative to the traditional court process. Instead, those charged would be given a list of requirements which, if completed, would result in the charges being dropped and no fines being issued.
Today’s city council meeting begins at 3 p.m.
