Marine Atlantic is in the process of returning to normal operations through Port aux Basques following word that repairs to damaged portions of the Trans-Canada Highway are nearing completion.
However, more heavy rain in the forecast could have an impact on those plans.
Commercial customers who are checked in at the Argentia facility by 5 p.m. on Tuesday have the choice to either travel via the Argentia service or transfer their sequence in line to the Port aux Basques service.
The Argentia terminal will stay open until all traffic is cleared.
Marine Atlantic is implementing a temporary virtual wait list for commercial units preparing to travel on the Port aux Basques route to prevent traffic congestion.
Officials say further updates will be provided if more rainfall forecast for the southwest coast results in further washouts.
High winds and rough seas are also forecast which could again affect sailing schedules.
