RCMP are commending the efforts of two off-duty police officers in helping to prevent a potential collision on the Trans-Canada Highway last week.
The officers noticed a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on the TCH as they were turning off the highway onto Salmonier Line around 6:15 p.m. last Tuesday. They noticed an SUV travelling westbound in the eastbound lane of the divided highway.
The officers pulled into the westbound lane, and driving parallel to the SUV blew their horn and motioned for the driver to pull over.
The SUV pulled onto the shoulder of the median and the elderly driver, who was disoriented and unaware of what happened, was safely escorted off the highway.
