A driver has been ticketed under the province’s Move Over legislation and for driving without due care and attention after nearly striking a police car on the side of the highway last Thursday afternoon.
An officer out of the Holyrood detachment had pulled over onto the side of the road with lights activated to attend to the scene of a single vehicle crash.
Police say the officer was parked on the side of the road, and partially in the westbound lane, near the Holyrood Access around 2:30 last Thursday afternoon when a vehicle passing by the scene ran over a number of pylons places around the police car for safety.
The vehicle came to a stop and when the officer approached, the 79-year-old driver was laughing at what happened.
The man was ticketed, and a request has been made to review his driver’s license.
