Construction on the new Corner Brook Hospital has been slowed down due to the Omicron variant.

A number of workers at the site are isolating under Public Health guidelines—affecting construction on the facility. That said, the department of Transportation and Infrastructure says a significant majority of the workforce at the site is fully vaccinated, with two vaccine clinics for the project workforce held in the fall.

The target date for completion of the facility remains late 2023.
